The advantages of homemade lip balm is that it has no preservatives, petrolchemical products, artificial colours, or artificial sweeteners. All this makes the product less likely to irritate sensitive skin.
Here an easy recipe for a fine, scented lip balm made of:
cacao butter 0,9 gr
shea butter 0,9 gr
almond oil 2,8 gr
beeswax 1,2
red beet extract 0,7gr mixed with 0,3 gr water (for the red lip balm)
urucum powder (for the orange one)
fragrance extract( strawberry, apricot …)5 drops
vitamine E 1 drop
Melt the butters, the oils and the beeswax over a low heat until just melted, mix and stir very well, then remove from heat, allow to cool for 2-3 minutes. Add the rest of ingredients.To make it easier while pouring into the recipent, I let the composition melt a little bit in the hot boiler.
The red beet extract and the strawberry fragrance make a nice combination. The lips are hydrated, and the little red/puple gives a gentle natural colour and it leaves your lips feeling luscious .
For the orange lip balm, I added the apricot extract which combined with urucum powder makes a summer colour. You can change the colour by adding more or less urucum powder.

Natalia this is really grate, thanks for the recipes! I never used red beet extract but it seems that it gives beautiful color. I also made lip balm couple of weeks ago with honey and plan to write about it soon.

They all are great! I’ve made a lip balm,too but mine is without colour and flavor ( I don’t have any for that purpose). I like yours more,they look like lipsticks.
