I really liked the colour of the lipstick Marika showed us some weeks ago on her blog. I have already tried some lip balms before and I adore making and using them, but the colours were always too light. This time I wanted to go further and try some stronger and darker colours in lipsticks. And I wanted to obtain them naturally.
Recipe ( for 8-9 lipsticks):
kokum butter ( you can also use cacao butter)9 gr
shea butter 8 gr
monoï oil ( or another oil like almond oil)25 gr
beeswax 12 gr
For the purple colour: alkanet infused in monoï oil
For the yellow brown colour: alkanet infused in monoï oil + calendula extract
I decided to use monoï oil (instead of almond oil I used to add), and I was impressed by its fragrance: I didn’t add any extra fragrance to my lipstick as this oil smells so good.
Melt the butters and the beeswax over a low heat until just melted, mix and stir very well, then remove from heat, allow to cool for 2-3 minutes. Add the rest of ingredients. To make it easier while pouring into the recipent, I let the composition melt a little bit in the hot boiler.
Made of natural ingredients, using lip balm recipients(instead of the instruments dedicated to making lipsticks), making lipstick is so easy…
