Raw Hemp Seeds Ice Cream

Since I have discovered how healthy the hemp seeds are, I added them to many recipes:  yougurt, shakes, salads, granola, breads, biscuits… These nutricious seeds contain the most concentrated balance of protein, vitamins and essential fats.
This ice cream recipe contains pretty much all of my favorite ingredients…hemp seeds, cashews, avocado, honey. Loaded with protein, calcium, healthy fats and natural anti-oxidants, this dessert is perfect for the hot summer days.

Raw Hemp Seed Ice Cream

The recipe:
80 gr of cashews, soaked for 8 hours
40 gr hemp seeds, soaked for 15 min
1-2 bananas
1 avocado
2 spoons honey(agave, maple syrup for a vegan version)
100 ml water
1 spoon lemon juice
vanilla powder

This ice-cream is so easy to make: all you have to do is to mix all the ingredients in a blender until it’s all mixed up, creamy and fluffy. The bananas and the avocado should be very ripe and frozen for at least 12 hours.

[ De cand am descoperit cat de sanatoase sunt semintele de canepa, le adaog la foarte multe preparate: la iaurt, la salate, la skake, paine sau biscuiti… Aceste seminte nutritive bogate in proteine continand 30% proteina completa cu toti aminoacizii esentiali si peste 40% ulei bogat in acizi grasi nesaturati avand raportul ideal de 3:1 Omega 6 si Omega 3.
2 linguri miere (alt indulcitor natural pentru o versiune vegana)
100 ml apa
1 lingura suc lamaie
pudra de vanilie
Aceasta inghetata se prepara foarte usor: mixam toate ingredientele intr-un blender pana cand obtinem o crema pufoasa si extrem de delicioasa.
Pofta buna!

This sounds really good! I like avocados and cashew nuts, but I had no idea that you can freeze avocado. I have never tried hemp seeds, but I bake bread with hemp protein and they get a nice dark green color. Sometimes I also put it in my morning smoothies.

Marika, I also use to add hemp protein to my bread/cakes, love its taste!
It’s a good way of keeping avocado when they are ripe: in the freezer!

I tried this ice cream without the hemp seeds and I loved it! ❤ I used all cashew nuts. I also used stevia instead of honey and put some chia seeds so I would get omega fatty acids. It is very filling, so I could only eat ½ of a small bowl. Next ice cream is going to be with hemp seeds.

I love chia seeds too and I add them to almost all deserts :). I am glad you liked it, Marika!

  3. That looks fantastic and oh so healthy but indulgent! Is there one ingredient that stands out in terms of taste in this ice cream? Thanks for sharing this recipe!

Difficult to say, Monica, but it’s worth trying it : this is a raw healthy recipe with no sugar or dairy products ;).

Yum! It’s so cool that you made this without an ice cream machine. I think it would be fun to make my own ice cream in whatever flavors I want. Sometimes I really, really want peanut butter ice cream.

    1. mijnzeep1 says:

Never tried peanut butter ice cream, but I might try it one day, Jenny, thank you!

I don’t know what an ice cream machine looks like, but here,we make (ok,not me, but my sis does) a real ice cream with an ordinary hand mixer and it’s delicious. This one is quite unusual, cos it doesn’t consist of ingredients required for ice creams, only nuts and fruits. I’d like to taste it, looks so creamy!

    1. mijnzeep1 says:

The one your sister makes is certaily a delicious ice cream, Maja! But you can also make ice creams from fruits and nuts(in stead of dairy products, for vegans).
