Walnut Soap

I am fond of nuts. Cashews, almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, Brazilians or pecans, I eat them every day. I am so obsessed by them that I have always some nuts with me. All nuts are healthy but walnut has many unique health benefits.
Walnuts are high in protein, vitamins, omega 3 fatty acids, trace minerals, lecithin and oils. Compared to other nuts, which typically contain a high amount of mono-unsaturated fats, walnuts are unique because the fats in them are primarily poly-unsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and they are the only nut with a significant amount of alpha-linolenic acid. Moreover, walnuts have insignificant amounts of sodium and are cholesterol free.
Walnut Soap
This soap contains, for its color, walnut shell powder, and also some powdered walnut which makes the soap lighly exfoliant.
Soap made of: coconut oil, olive oil, walnut oil, palm oil, grapeseed oil, cacao butter, castor oil, goat milk, honey, walnut shell powder, powdered walnut. Unscented but it smells so good!

Once again I’m not glad I live in Finland… 😉 You have those lovely ingredients in your soap – again – that we can only dream about here…I like that rustic look of that soap and it sounds like it is very nourishing in so many ways.

You can not find walnuts in Finland, Signe?

      1. Signe says:

Whole walnuts we have here of course, but I’ve never seen here any powered walnut or walnut shell power. I just looked your new chocolate-pumpkin cake (that looks so delicious, yum!) and it also have some ingredients I haven’t found here. I’m still looking for that carob powder I didn’t have when I was making that mango cake…now my “looking for” – list is getting longer again… 🙂

      2. mijnzeep1 says:

Signe, most of my soap ingredients I get here: http://aroma-zone.com/ , an online shop which I highly recommend( free shipping on orders over 69EUR!)

      3. Marika says:

Signe: Carobia saa ainakin Hyvinvoinnin tavaratalosta sekä Ruohonjuuresta.
This carob is very interesting. My rabbits eat it when I was small. All of the commercial rabbit foods contained pieces of it 🙂

    1. mijnzeep1 says:

Thanks Jenny! I like to put in soap everything I eat and I am not the only one 😉

Your walnut soap is something I would pick up in a crowd of soap. It sounds so good and I love the way it looks like chocolate. And I love love nuts! 🙂

    1. mijnzeep1 says:

Thanks Silvia! I am glad we have the same hobbies: making soaps and eating nuts 😉

  5. Marika says:

I agree with Silvia. It really looks like chocolate. I so want to smell that soap! I have only used almond in soap, but you inspired me to try other nuts too.

    1. mijnzeep1 says:

Even if I didn’t put any essential oil, this soap smells really nice, I would say like honey! Thanks Marika and waiting to see your walnut soap!

  6. Gordana says:

We also use lot of walnut either in the sweets or in salads but I did not have any idea about adding it to soap! This soap turned out so delicious!

    1. mijnzeep1 says:

      Thanks Gordana!

Well, well, well, now that you changed your blog name, you definitely should put Facebook LINK for you new page! People should know for it!
Your cake-soap looks like dark chocolate, what you enhanced with walnut in three forms. Is the colour coming from the shells? And what is the smell like?

    1. mijnzeep1 says:

Thanks Maja, for your advice! What would I do without you?

  10. cannella says:

Ce brun est superbe ! Ton savon est simplement beau … J’adore !

    1. mijnzeep1 says:

Merci Cannella! Simple et délicieux 😉

  11. Vicki says:

How did I miss this one? I LOVE that deep colour! Do you really get a strong walnut fragrance without using any FO’s? I will have to try this soon (as I love nuts as well!) – I like the thought of not using a fragrance oil but still getting the nut fragrance from a more natural soap

    1. Vicki says:

PS Just seen that you’ve got a new facebook page too – I’ve liked 🙂

      1. mijnzeep1 says:

Thanks Vicki, this is nice of you 😉

    2. mijnzeep1 says:

Thanks Vicki! I didn’t get a strong fragrance, but I like the smell of this soap: so discreet and natural (maybe because I can hardly stand strong fragrances)

  12. Monica says:

Your soap looks like a very decadent chocolate cake. It would be difficult for me to use something like that during my morning shower and not want to take a bite out of it. 😉

    1. mijnzeep1 says:

      😉
      I totally understand you, Monica!

  13. I don’t know anything about soapmaking, but this one looks like a delicious chunck of walnut chocolate or something. It looks like you could take a big bite right out of it 🙂
